Matthew Walker
A designer, husband and father born and raised in New York and now living in Farmington, Connecticut. Matt is the Founder and Principal of Walk Design, a highly sought after design studio specializing in the field of standards-based sports web logo design.
An award-winning expert in graphic design, Matt has worked with some of the top brands in sports including CAA Sports, Legacy Sports, CC Sabathia, Barry Zito, Roy Oswalt, Orlando Hudson, Albert Pujols, Ryan Zimmerman, Josh Hamilton and many others. Matt is also part owner of Major League Strength; a company founded by Dana Cavalea, Director of Strength and Conditioning for the New York Yankees.
Matt is currently the lead design for ESPN Fantasy Sports and has held this position for over 6 years which has included responsibility for all design within the ESPN Fantasy Sports domain. In his tenure Fantasy Sports has grown tremendously in both revenue and fan base and now accounts for over 25% of all traffic at ESPN. Matt works with Technology, Editorial, Sales, Marketing and relevant business stakeholders to mold and create the direction of ESPN Fantasy Sports and the production of GUI’s and external marketing products. This includes the design and art direction of mobile, web concepts, layouts, graphics, logos, advertising units an special sections. Other areas of expertise include application of fundamental analytical and creative skills to identify and evaluate design alternatives, the development and management of assigned design projects including innovative navigation systems, interface designs, typography, and page layouts for web packages and other interactive media.
Throughout his career, Matt has proven time and again that he is an expert in interactive creative and design. This has been demonstrated as he has built online experiences for a collection of the world’s most recognized brands. He is a recognized expert in the following areas -logo creation, web design, social media design and strategy, iphone/ipad design, creative direction as well as concept and strategy development. He has brought these skills to his many partnerships that range from large interactive media companies to globally recognized athletes. Matt has a proven ability to motivate and inspire creative teams to deliver superb creative work under tight deadlines.
Matt’s creative work has been featured in “Logos: Making a Strong Mark” by Rockport Publishers. In 2009, Matt was named as a judge for the 2009 Logopond Awards and the 2010 Annual Design Awards contest.
